These are photographs from the Mission San Xavier del Bac, or the “White Dove of the Desert” from March, 2010. They are shot on a Nikon D700, with 14-24mm and 24-70mm lens.

Kristen and I had the pleasure of taking a week long trip to northwestern Wyoming in September. We’ll be featuring quite a few galleries of images from the trip, and the first is of Yellowstone grizzly. We came across these three bear after a hike on Mount Washburn. It’s a 4 or 5 year old mother with two yearling cubs. They were initially down the hill from us quite away foraging plants. They worked their way up the hill quite quickly, much to the surprise of quite a few photographers, sending everyone running back to their cars and the ranger sounding his siren. While everyone was focused on the cubs playing on the logs, the sow had quite quickly reached the road a little two close for comfort, coming 10 – 15 yards from the parked vehicles.

Storm Chasing: May 23rd, 2009 Tornado warned storm

So, I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a tornado with this storm in southeast of North Platte, Nebraska. We did see a great gustnado and some lots of sharks teeth on the front of the storm. We happened across this storm coming back from Colorado. I felt fairly confident some one would call in the gustnado as a tornado and it went tornado warned based on reports minutes later. Fun storm never the less. We hung around long enough to get run over by the shelf.

I’m finally getting around to going through our pictures we took at WPPI 2008 and our vacation back in March. While most of our time was spend in classes, seminars and tradeshows, we did have a little bit of time to go to some parties, do some shopping, and explore the area a little bit. We took an afternoon to go to visit the Hoover Dam, on the border of Arizona and Nevada.

There are a few more pictures of the dam area, as well as Lake Mead, and Kristen and I in the slide show below:

We’re Back

Vegas was Awesome!

We’re back in Minnesota, what a change in the weather! We left Vegas where it was hot and sunny and landed in Minneapolis where it was freezing and snowing. I didn’t think we would be celebrating Easter with 6 inches of snow on the ground.

The last day in Vegas was totally insane! Our flight left at 6:00am on Saturday, so we decided not to rent the hotel room for Friday night. We woke up on Friday at 9:0am and didn’t sleep again for the next 30 hours! By the time our plane landed at noon on Saturday we were both exhausted, hungry, and ready to sleep.

Our time on Friday night was fun though. We got to walk around and see all the hotels and walk the strip. The people watching there is great! We noticed that the streets tend to get louder and louder as the night goes on. The later it gets, and the more people drink, the louder and crazier they become.

We are currently in the process of working on our 3500+ pictures we took while there. As soon as we get through them, we will be posting a bunch of the good, the bad, and the just down right funny ones.

We are on our way to WPPI 2008. At least, we are trying to be on our way to WPPI. Our flight from MSP airport was supposed to depart at 2:50pm but it is now 4:55pm and we have yet to board the plane. The big guy at the front desk states the reason for the very late departure is a mechanical problem which they are trying to fix. So here we sit, every few minutes the people at the desk give us another estimated time for departure. With Caribou and a bottle of juice in hand, we wait…and wait…and wait.

We will not make it to the opening ceremony tonight which begins at 6:00pm. We are both extremely disappointed to be missing out on Jerry Ghionis who will be speaking tonight at 7:15pm. Tear, sigh, sniff:( Hopefully the rest of the week will go a little more smoothly.

Here we sit, frustrated with the airline and more than ready to get on that plane and get to Las Vegas.
