Well, I thought Lightrooms 2 with camera profiles and Viveza would eliminate the need for Capture NX. Well, I’m wrong. There is obviously some pretty bad color rendering going on here in Lightroom on this picture from Rocky Mountain National Park:

Scene from Rocky Mountain National Park rendered using Lightroom's Vivid profile from Nikon cameras.

Here’s the accurately rendered version from Nikon’s Capture NX:

Scene from Rocky Mountain National Park rendered using Lightroom's Vivid profile from Nikon cameras.

Check out the purple color gradation on the Lightroom image. This color error appears when using ANY Nikon profile in Lightroom.

I don’t hate using Capture NX, I just like using Adobe’s Lightroom much better. All of the cataloging is done in Lightroom, and it’s a pain to switch to NX to edit an image and reimport the resulting TIFF. I wonder if there is a plugin for Lightroom to do this for us.
